Only 14km separate Tarifa from the Moroccan coast. The nearest cities are Ceuta and Tangier.
Ceuta is only reached from Algeciras, but between Tarifa and Tangier there are several ferries a day.
From Tarifa you can see Africa clearly, which increases the temptation for a short break to the other continent.
The trip lasts about 35 minutes, but with the time of boarding and disembarking you have to have at least 1 hour. The port is located about 15 minutes on foot from the Hostal and 5 minutes by car (we can also call a taxi from the reception if you wish).
From no other European city there is so much facility to submerge for a few hours in the Moroccan culture. The port of Tangier is near the Medina, the old city. There are the colorful bazaars where you can buy anything and small cafes. Also the new city has much to offer its visitors. The Kasbah with the palace of Sultan Dar-al-Makhzen is also worth seeing. The palace was built by the pachá Ahmed ben Ali ben Abd Allah al-Rifi (1691-1710) and is one of the most important monuments of Tangier.
An excursion to the panoramic point of Cabo Espartel and the Grottos de Hercules, where according to the legend Hercules slept before stealing apples from the garden of the Hespérides, should also be included in the excursion.
